Kudit
The missing iPhone & iPod touch applications.

questions

What is Kudit?

Kudit is a collection of simple, elegant, and easy to use applications that are specifically designed for the iPhone and iPod touch. There is a lot of stuff here, so browse our applications and see for yourself!

How do I use the applications?

We require a one-step application process in order to use the Kudits. All we ask for is an email address which will not be shared with anyone. This allows us to send you your password if you forget, and allows us to store your personalized settings for your Kudits so you can come back right where you left off!

Do I have to hack my phone?

As always, our apps do not require any kind of hacks or unlocks to use. In fact, you can even use these programs from your computer if you're running Safari 3.0!

Do I need to be connected to the internet to use the Kudits?

While you will need to be connected in order to load the Kudit initially, many of the Kudits will work fine as long as the page is loaded into memory. So add the link to the homepage or keep a Kudit open in a new page and keep your favorite Kudits close at hand! Oh, and for our App Store apps, most do not require an internet connection, so you can enjoy your apps wherever you are!

Why a subscription instead of a flat rate?

We charge a subscription fee primarily because these applications are not downloaded to your phone, so they are not accessible without a network connection (on your end as well as ours). Therefore, we are continually providing service and thus there are ongoing costs of bandwidth, hosting, monitoring and storage in order to continue providing you access to the Kudits. So instead of charging everyone a large amount to have access to the Kudits up front, we chose to charge a very small fee (less than 17¢/week!) for access to the apps and provide you with the flexability to choose to discontinue if you no longer have a need for a Kudit. In addition, the Kudits are constantly being upgraded and enhanced at no additional charge meaning there's no upgrade fees.

Why do you charge?

We are aware that there are several free web apps available for the iPhone and iPod touch. However, we feel that usability is the most important factor in the iPhone experience and therefore we have chosen to support our applications via a nominal subscription fee instead of having ads shoved in our users' face.

Charging for the apps allows us to continue development efforts to bring you high-quality applications and programs and provide support and bug fixes as well as maintain fast reliable service 24/7.

How much does it cost?

There is no charge to use the service or the free trials. Many Kudits are provided free of charge. Other Kudits costs $1.99 for a 3 month license (that's less than 17¢ per week!). Each Kudit Plus costs $4.99 for a 3 month license (that's less than 42¢ per week!). Updates and feature enhancements are included in the cost. You have the option of being automatically re-billed when the license expires so that you don't have to think about it, or you can manually re-purchase the license, or cancel, if you don't find it useful anymore.

What do I get with my purchase?

You get access to that program for 3 months. Additionally, you get to take advantage of any updates, enhancements, and improvements made to the program during that time and the improvements will happen automatically! No need to download or install updates. It all just works.

How do I know how much a particular Kudit costs?

From the logged in home screen (on the device) there is an icon in the upper left corner. This will take you to the list view that lists all the applications. Any application with a green dot next to it is free. A blue dot indicates a Kudit Plus item. A red dot indicates a new item and a purple dot indicates a recently updated item.

How can I help?

We're always looking for help. This site takes lots of hard work and time to run and operate and keep updated. So if you'd like to help out in any way, please contact us. There are several perks and rewards if you do!

Who created this?

Kudit is the brainchild of Ben Ku. Upon hearing the news at WWDC that the iPhone would allow 3rd party applications via Web 2.0 and AJAX, Ben jumped at the opportunity to combine his greatest passions: developing websites and using Apple products.

In 2007, Christopher Ryan was brought in to help polish the design and help futher the pursuit of the perfect blend of usability and elegant design. His design sense has been used by Apple and we're lucky to have it here on Kudit.com!
